What positions are available at B.E.S.T
What do I need to do to register as a supply/home education teacher or teaching assistant at B.E.S.T?

You will need to complete an application form which will us a good understanding of your background experience and skills that you can bring to the position.  In addition to this you will need to bring to the informal meeting any 3 of the following forms of identification:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Driving Licence
  • Passport
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Utility bill dated within the last 3 months
  • Current DBS if registered on the update service

If you do not have a DBS, we can apply for this for you at a cost of £44

What do I need to do to register as an exam invigilator at B.E.S.T?

You will need to provide your CV giving your work / education background.  In addition to this you will need to bring to the informal meeting any 3 of the following forms of identification:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Driving Licence
  • Passport
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Utility bill dated within the last 3 months
  • Current DBS if registered on the update service

If you do not have a DBS, we can apply for this for you at a cost of £44

Will I be given any training?

Yes, every member of staff regardless of position is expected to complete a Level 2 course in Child Protection in Education.  This is compulsory but is free of charge to you.  All exam invigilators will be required to attend training for approximately 1.5 – 2 hours at a local venue.

I’ve heard I can’t work in any educational establishment unless I’m registered. Does this mean registration with an agency?

No this means registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).  To raise the profile of all education staff working with children, registration with the EWC on an annual basis, is compulsory.  If you are not currently registered, please don’t let that put you off as our staff will be able to assist you with the process.

When will I know where I am meant to be working?

This is dependent on the schools.  Providing we are informed of their needs in advance, you will be called immediately to be booked for the duration of the cover.  However, when sickness occurs within schools, we will either receive a call during the evening or the morning of the day cover is needed.  You can expect a call anytime between 7am and 9am if the call is in the morning.

When do I get paid?

 As we outsource our payroll, salary is paid on the 20th of each calendar month following confirmation of attendance at each school.
